Handmade World Cup Bracelets

Peruvian pattern

In our family, soccer has never been just a sport.

Much of our life together happens on the field. Between practices, games, tournaments, and long weekends on the sidelines, soccer has become part of the rhythm of our family life. Our two sons both play, and many of our favorite memories together have come from early mornings heading to matches, cold sidelines wrapped in blankets, and long drives home after tournaments stopping for Chipotle before catching the ferry back to Martha’s Vineyard. Along the way, we have also watched players and families from all over the world come together through the game.

That spirit became the inspiration behind this collection.

As the 2026 World Cup approaches, Coco began creating flag bracelets inspired by the national colors of countries from around the globe. What started as a few designs quickly grew into a much larger collection celebrating country pride, football culture and the way sport connects families across generations….

That feeling inspired this new collection of handmade World Cup bracelets at Rumi Sumaq.

More Than Football Merchandise

These bracelets were never meant to feel like disposable fan gear.

Instead, Coco wanted them to feel personal. Something lightweight and wearable that supporters could continue wearing long after the final whistle. Something connected not only to football, but also to identity, heritage, family and memory.

Each national flag bracelet is hand-knotted one at a time in the Rumi Sumaq art jewelry studio on Martha’s Vineyard using durable waxed cord, hematite stones and the signature Rumi Sumaq logo bead.

The colors reflect countries participating in the World Cup, but the story behind them reaches much further.

Football, Family and Memory

For Coco, football has always been tied closely to family.

Growing up in Peru, some of his fondest memories are of watching matches with his parents, who are both no longer with us. Like so many families around the world, football brought everyone together. There was excitement, conversation, celebration, heartbreak, and the shared experience of cheering for your country beside the people you love.

Of course, in our house we wish Peru had qualified this year. We would absolutely have been cheering them on together as a family.

Instead, like many football supporters, we will adopt a few teams along the way. We will be cheering for the USA, Spain, Portugal and many of the South American teams throughout the tournament.

I also have a soft spot for underdogs in sports. Seeing smaller nations like Cabo Verde and Curaçao qualify this year feels incredibly special. What an achievement for those countries, players and supporters.

That is part of what makes the World Cup so meaningful. Every team carries a story much bigger than football itself.

Handmade by Coco on Martha’s Vineyard

Every bracelet is handcrafted by Quechua designer Coco Paniora Salinas.

Coco’s work has always been rooted in weaving, symbolism and connection. His knotting techniques draw inspiration from generations of Andean textile traditions while still feeling modern and wearable today.

Every bracelet is handmade individually by Coco.

That human touch matters deeply to our family. Especially now, when so much of the world feels fast and mass-produced, there is something meaningful about creating objects slowly by hand that people can connect with emotionally.

After Argentina won the World Cup in 2022, we sold so many Argentina bracelets, and we loved imagining the pride and excitement our customers felt wearing their country’s colors on their wrist while celebrating those unforgettable moments together.
